As an advisor to Comitans, Peryton accompanied this acquisition: The Munich investor is taking over the division of the leading technology group Rheinmetall that is responsible for the production of small pistons.
The division has production facilities in Germany, the Czech Republic, the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Japan and China with a total of around 3,650 employees. Marcus Gerlach, head of Rheinmetall’s materials and trading division, explains: “We are putting our small piston production in good hands. In recent months, Comitans Capital AG has actively familiarized itself with the areas in which investments and changes are necessary and has contributed to the long-term strategy of small piston management.”
From now on, the area will operate as an independent, separate company with its own organization under the brand name Kolbenschmidt Pistons. As a leading supplier of pistons for internal combustion engines, the traditional company impresses with an extensive product range in an international growth market. In the future, additional companies will complement Comitans Capital’s portfolio in order to position itself as a market leader in this area.
“We are pursuing a “last man standing” strategy with Kolbenschmidt Pistons. This means that we want to actively shape the consolidation of the industry,” said former Schaeffler CFO Ulrich Hauck, who founded the company in 2021, to the Handelsblatt. “Suppliers with multiple plants per region will be better able to adjust their capacities if volumes are expected to decline in the future.“
